Born in Tokyo, Japan, TOYA became a professional musician at the young age of eleven. At that time his services were requested by many music stores to demonstrate the newest keyboards coming on to the market.
Since completing his Bachelors Degree (Composition Major) at Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, TOYA has undertaken numerous projects as a composer, arranger, and performer in recording studios and on live concert tours. With twelve years of extensive experience in Japan, he moved to New York City in 1991 to contribute his many talents to the Jazz, R&B, Pop, Theater and Classical music scenes.
He is now working for world renowned singers including Ben E. King, Dionne Warwick, Maxine Brown (R&B Hall of Fame), Dee Dee Sharp (R&B Hall of Fame), Chuck Jackson, Nancy Wilson, and many more as Musical Director and or keyboard player as well as producing TV Commercials and music for Theater. In July 2001, he directed the music for Opening Ceremony of Former President Mr. Bill Clinton's new office in Harlem, New York. TOYA is also leading his own project "Project Ts" and "Universal Groove" which have a Funky Jazzy flavor that creates a universal pop groove!
