 Tanyard Welcomes New Conductor
and Concertmaster

TBA's Jazz Symphony Orchestra welcomes two new musicians to the line-up of mentors, the talented duo M20. Makia Matsumura, Composer and Pianist was named the Conductor for the premiere season. Machiko Ozawa, versatile violinist will be mentoring 1st Violin students. The two prodigies will be joining Internationally renown Percussionist, Ron McBee. 

Makia Matsumura, born in Tokyo, began piano and music composition at the age of six.  She has performed with internationally recognized orchestras such as the Hungary National Symphony, the Berlin Great Radio Orchestra and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Makia's work has been featured on ABC News, Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), and many independent film and video productions.

Machiko Ozawa, also a Tokyo native began playing piano at the age of three and began to master violin by age eight. She made her first performance with an orchestra as a soloist  at Iino Hall in Tokyo with Tokyo New City Orchestra at he age of 14. Machiko gave her debut recital at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2002 as the winner of Artist International Audition in 2001.  She has performed as a featured soloist with Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, and has served as concertmaster with Hollywood composer, Jerry Goldsmith.
